I recently studied abroad in Florence, Italy and I discovered so much on my journey.
I learned a lot about myself and who I aspire to be, including the way I present myself.
I was very inspired by the aesthetic of Italian style. Often, Italian women sport classic silhouettes and make it current and iconic through their individual styling. It stands out and commands the attention of foreign fashionistas like me. It is unique blend of simplistic pieces with bold statement pieces.
It is both elegant, sophisticated, and fresh. It is long jackets, black pants, leather shoes, and handbags.
The most obvious theme in Italian ensembles is a dark color scheme. Most women dress in black or other dark colors and pick one article of clothing to pop, typically the jacket or shoes.
Women love to layer their pieces, giving their style more of a conservative look. I noticed many outfits combined multiple contrasting textures to add visual interest and richness. Large scarves were staple pieces that added both fashion and function to outfits.
This photo shoot was inspired by some of my favorite styles I saw on the streets…
