The Savoie Daily is a fashion and lifestyle blog created by Jack Savoie who is a Fashion Design student at Colorado State. Today, you get to meet the writer behind the aesthetically pleasing website and find out what it’s like to be a blogger and a college student.
- When and why did you start a fashion blog?
I started my blog three years ago because I was noticing blogs around the web and what they entailed. A lot of the bloggers that I followed were gaining invitations and access to fashion shows, brand collaborations, and other PR perks and I wanted this exact thing!
2. Who are some of your favorite bloggers and why? Did any of them inspire you to start your own?
This is always a hard question because I have one too many favorites!! I would have to say that Chiara Ferragni, Chriselle Lim, Adam Gallagher, and Aimee Song are among the favorites. The best part about all of these bloggers is that they have their own style and are original. They are the trendsetters. They absolutely inspired me, and STILL inspire me, but not just in terms of style; they inspire me to be an individual and find my own voice.
3. How do you keep up with posting and do you have any time management tips for people looking to start a blog?
You have to work on your time so whatever works for your schedule is what you should do. For me blogging is a second priority so if I have other important things, like school, then that gets done first. It’s okay if you forget to post because you’re human and stuff happens. Just try to schedule your posts out and plan accordingly. I always try to post at least once a week or every two weeks; however, once school and other priorities slow a bit, I will probably do twice a week. You have to find the right balance, and let’s be honest, we’re all human and there are times when I just can’t blog. However, you have to tell yourself to push through, stay positive and say I WANT TO DO THIS.
- What would you say has been a big success for your blog?
The moment I got an invite to a fashion show was when I was like “okay people are actually seeing this!!” It makes you feel warm and fuzzy. I have yet to attend a show, as school usually falls when fashion week is happening, but this year I am going to try and attend for my 21st birthday.
- What challenge do you believe you have overcome with your blog?
Finding the right balance of posting. I used to over post and then I would under post but it’s about consistency and making sure you have enough content to cover a period of time.
- You’re very present on Instagram, would you say this social media platform is best to enhance traffic to your blog?
Oh absolutely! Instagram is a major tool to bring traffic to your site. In a way it is like another blog, but just on a minor scale. It can show those who don’t follow your blog what you are like and what your site has to offer.
- How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Classic, current, and sophisticated.
- Who is your style icon?
I feel like I resonate with Marlon Brando. I mean who else can rock a simple white t-shirt and jeans?
- Have you met anyone famous or well-known because of your blog?
Yes I have, I actually have started a friendship with blogger Shea Marie of Peace Love Shea. She was in Denver and looking for places to go and I had written her previously and told her to hit me up if she was ever in town again. Sure enough she did and we have been talking ever since! Shea is a major babe and she even has her own swimwear line!
- Do you hope to turn blogging into a profession or keep it as a hobby?
I mean if it does turn into a profession, all the better, but if not that is totally fine too. Honestly this blog has helped me build some major fashion connections so I hope to use some of these connections in my fashion career.
- What should our viewers look forward to seeing on The Savoie Daily?
A lot of fashion and lifestyle! I always try to have a nice mix of not only menswear, but also lifestyle for both men and women.
