In the past year I have experienced more than enough suicides; whether they were people I knew, or people I had only met a few times. I have watched many others go through much worse than I have, but whether it is someone who you are best friends with, or someone you do not know at all, your heart still breaks when you hear the word suicide. Knowing that someone had been hurting so bad, and you had no idea can be one of the hardest concepts to wrap your head around. That was part of my inspiration for this photoshoot. More often than not, people will tell you to ignore what the others have said to you and “sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you”; however, that is not the case. Words will stick in your mind and be the center of every thought you have of yourself, whether they are words of negativity, or words of encouragement. As I thought about this photoshoot and what it meant to me, I kept thinking of this quote: “Be mindful when it comes to your words. A string of some that don’t mean much to you, may stick with someone else for a lifetime.” So if there is anything to take away from this, it is to be mindful of what you say to others, because you never know what someone is going through, or how those words will effect someone.
