Colorado is home to outdoor adventure and beautiful scenery almost anywhere you go. Don’t be fooled though, the mountains are home to much more than skiing and snowboarding, as there are many events for the coming winter season.
This gorgeous mountain town has a base elevation of 6,900 feet and an annual snowfall of 349”/886cm. In addition, it is ranked as a top family ski mountain with many trails and lifts to make it very convenient to travel around. There are many special events that take place each year that hold special to this community; and many people come from out of town to enjoy the spirited festivities Steamboat has to offer. One event you will not want to miss this year is Scholarship Day that will take place this year on November 23rd. This event is not only a Steamboat tradition, but also serves a great purpose as it raises awareness for local children in club programs. Not only will they serve hot chocolate as an added benefit, but you can also get your tickets quick and easy in advance. So what are you waiting for? Hurry and get yours now! Another event this season that might spark your interest is the Holiday Festival. This event will take place on December 18th and is even free of charge! You will arrive at the infamous gondola square where you will be greeted with Santa and all his reindeer. There will also be additional activities later on that will include cookie decorating and fireworks.
Who doesn’t love a nice vacation to the beautiful town of Breckenridge? This town sits at a base elevation of 9,600 feet and has been in operation since 1961. In addition to the exquisite dining, nightlife and shopping it has to offer both its locals and tourists, it also has so great winter events that take place every year. The Hartford Ski Spectacular takes place from November 27th all the way to December 4th. It is an extremely large winter sports festival that has been around for years and is for people with physical disabilities. Through attending this event, there are race programs and corporate races to really get involved. In addition to this widely popular event, you can also attend the Dew Tour which takes place from December 8th through the 11th. This event will feature athletes competing in different competitions and both skiing and snowboarding will be performed by men and women. You’re not going to want to miss this one!
There is no place like Vail! This ski mountain opens on Friday, November 18th of this year and there will be many fun events to come around the corner. Although there are many tubing hills and terrain parks to keep you and your family and/or friends entertained for hours, you are not going to want to miss what’s in store for this snowy season. Vail Snow Daze will take place from December 9th to the 11th, and is a huge mountain celebration early on in the season which people can enjoy. At this event, people have access to the terrain and then later on at night there will be various concerts to go out and enjoy. In case you’re planning on staying in town for a long weekend or into the next week fret not; SKADI Fest will take place and will be sure to not disappoint. From December 14th through the 16th you will have access to a women’s weekend event where you and your best girlfriends can learn ski demos, as well as participate in events circled around exclusive lessons just for you!
