Justin Bieber, the Canadian popstar, is best known for his hit singles “One Time” and “Baby.” But there is a lot more to this celebrity than just his music. He is also becoming increasingly known for his sense of style.
His style started in 2009 with the so called “hair flip,” which he always maintained with his shaggy hair. Along with his hair he only ever really wore zip-up hoodies, skinny jeans, high tops and a lot of the color purple. A year later in 2010, his style had not really changed even as he became more well-known and started traveling on his My World Tour. This is also when he scored his first Vanity Fair cover.
However, in 2011 he got rid of his once long, luscious locks and instead opted for a cleaner and somewhat shorter hairstyle. He also cleaned up his style. By trying to look “fresher” and more grown up, he started dressing in more fashionable types of clothing.
In 2012, his hairstyle was still short on the sides and longer on the top, similar a Mohawk, but a bit fuller. His style at this time was more laid back. Bieber was often seen rocking a simple V-neck, with a chain around his neck, skinny jeans and of course a pair of sleek looking high tops.
Finally in 2013, we saw a complete style overhaul. He rocked a new style, but more importantly he started tattooing his body, going as far as to get tattoo sleeves.
In 2014, Bieber started to show a more mature side through the display of some facial hair. This is also when he made the questionable decision to bleach his hair, which completely changed look. 2014 was also the year he turned 21. And with that milestone Bieber also became the new face of Calvin Klein underwear and jeans.
Bieber has changed a lot in the past six years. He has definitely become more of a man and as such, has begun to take more responsibility for his actions. You can also see the transformation through his style: in the beginning it was all about purple sweatshirts and long locks, whereas now he often is seen wearing more stylish and fitted clothing and a shorter hairstyle.
Everyone changes their style over the years. In the case of Bieber his transformation has had both good and bad parts (I think we can all agree the bleached hair was not his best look). I cannot wait to see what he does next on his style evolution.
