Nicole Richie is a fashion designer, author and actress, best known for appearing alongside one-time best friend Paris Hilton on the show “The Simple Life”. Recently, Richie starred as one of the three mentors on “Fashion Star”, a reality show where contestants compete to create the best clothes in a limited amount of time.
In the fashion world Richie is considered a style icon. She appeared in ads for Jimmy Choo and Bongo Jeans, both of which helped launch her fashion career and icon status. Richie started her own fashion collection; consisting of jewelry, accessories and sunglasses in 2007, before creating the jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, in 2008. Two years later she expanded that line to include clothing and shoes. That same year she won “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards for her House of Harlow 1960 brand.
House of Harlow 1960 has been worn by many noteworthy celebs, including Madonna and Ashlee Simpson. The brand is very much like Richie’s own style- bohemian and bold. Her designs feature a lot of gold and silver, with turquoise and red accents. Richie also designed for Mouawad, a professional jewelry designer. Her pieces for the 50 piece collaboration included lots of feathers and gold. Both jewelry collections range in price from $50-150.
Richie’s own personal style has been described as “bohemian-chic”. She loves to incorporate prints, shapes, florals and paisley into her own day to day looks; as well as her designer collections. Many of her daily outfits appear thoughtful, yet effortless; the perfect balance that we all try to achieve.
While most of us cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars on our clothes, we can still immolate our favorite celebrity’s style. If you are looking to dress like Richie, then focus on purchasing pieces in floral, paisley or a mix of patterns. Only focus on silhouettes that hug your body but still have that effortless flow to them. For example, Richie knows how to rock a maxi dress and a great pair of skinny jeans.
While celebrities have access to the best clothes, there is no reason you cannot dress just as chic or as stylish as them. With a few smart purchases you too can rock the boho look of Nicole Richie.
