Tis’ the season for cute boots, cozy sweaters and adorable nails! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, here are just a few steps to taking those nails from plain to fun and festive.
Step One: Base Coat & Main Color
You want to start with a clear base coat to make sure your design will last as long as possible. Once that is dry pick a neutral color of your choice. A light brown or warm gray is a great option for this time of year, but feel free to use a more fun color like burgundy or even a smoky pumpkin. The key here is to make sure this is COMPLETELY dry before moving on to the next step.
Step Two: Polka, Polka, Polka Dots
Next, choose three colors for the polka dots. You can keep them matte or choose something a little more festive (glitter anyone?). Grab a paper towel and put about two drops of each color on it. Next, cut a Q-tip in half at an angle so you have a point on the end. Now it is just a matter of making small random dots all over your nails. But make sure to leave one nail blank.
Step Three: Turkey Time
For making the turkey, I found it easiest to use Q-tips rather than the brush, just so you can get cleaner lines. Put two drops of black and orange on the paper towel from earlier. Start with making two small black dots close to the cuticles for the eyes. After that, put three dots of the orange in a triangle shape. Connect the dots and fill in. And BAM you have an adorable turkey on your nail.
Step Four: Top Coat
After your masterpiece has dried, seal it with a topcoat. This will give it a nice sheen and also keep it from chipping. And viola! You have an adorable and festive nail design that will go perfect with your Thanksgiving dinner.
